Enigmatic American John Daly – a famous winner of the PGA Championship at Crooked Stick Golf Club in 1991 after starting as ninth alternate – will again feature after entertaining the galleries in his usual manner last year.

Daly, who also won the Open Championship in 1995, will head an all-star cast alongside four-time major champion Ernie Els, a 28-time winner on the DP World Tour with 19 victories also coming on the PGA Tour.

Jim Furyk, the 2003 US Open winner and 2018 US Ryder Cup captain, will also play in the event, along with South African Retief Goosen and Colin Montgomerie, the latter a winner of a record eight DP World Tour Order of Merit titles.

Darren Clarke will host the JCB Championship, while Alex Cejka defends his title at the West Midlands venue after he saw off the challenge of Paul McGinley by two shots in 2022.

General tickets are now on sale, with day tickets priced at £15 for an adult and £5 for youth tickets (13-17). Those 12 and under will receive free admission, while season passes (£45 adult, £10 youth) are also available. An early booking discount of 25 per cent is in place until March 31, with priority parking available for £5 a day.

The brainchild of JCB chairman Lord Bamford, The JCB Golf & Country Club has quickly established itself as a must-play course since opening in 2018. At 7,308 yards from the back tees, the layout offers a stern challenge for even the best ball-strikers and has been designed and constructed to the highest specification.

Spanning 240 acres of rolling countryside, the venue has been hailed a masterpiece in contemporary course design and has an array of aesthetically appealing tee shots, a combination of both wide and narrow fairways, and interesting and complex greens.

The course has several notable holes, including the signature par-3 17th. At 255 yards, players are faced with an intimidating downhill tee shot to an island green. With trees to the left and a large sand trap positioned front-right, any wayward shots are punished and will leave you scrambling to make par.

Tickets are now also on sale for three other UK & Ireland-based Legends Tour events – also with an early booking discount of 25 per cent until March 31 for both the Irish Legends at Seapoint Golf Links (played from June 22-25) and the much-anticipated Staysure Seniors PGA Championship at Trump International Aberdeen (played from August 23-27). Tickets prices start from €7.50 and £7.50 respectively.

Meanwhile, from June 8-11, La Moye Golf Club will once again welcome the Jersey Legends, with free admission on all tickets with a maximum of four per person.

The upcoming season promises to be the biggest since the Legends Tour’s rebranding in 2020, with larger fields and record-breaking prize funds as well as new venues hosting major events.

Phil Harrison, chief executive of the Legends Tour, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming some legendary names from the world of golf down to the JCB Championship in August for what promises to be an exceptional week on the Legends Tour calendar.

“With the likes of Jon Daly, Ernie Els and Jim Furyk all taking part we are expecting large crowds once again, so would encourage anyone thinking of attending to make the most of the early ticket offer to not be left disappointed.

“Our ticket pricing and early booking discounts for the JCB Championship, Irish Legends and the Staysure Seniors PGA Championship offer great value for anyone wanting to see top-quality golf with some of the game’s biggest names taking part, along with stars from the world of sport and entertainment who will be playing in our popular Celebrity Series.”
