A stellar field featuring some of the most recognisable names in European golf will headline the opening event of the 2026 Legends Tour season at the Staysure Marbella Legends.
Former Ryder Cup captains Colin Montgomerie, Thomas Bjørn and José María Olazábal are among those set to compete at Aloha Golf Club, where they will be joined by local hero Miguel Ángel Jiménez. Major winners Michael Campbell – who claimed the 2005 U.S. Open – and 1999 Open Champion Paul Lawrie also feature, further underlining the quality of field assembling in Marbella from 20–22 February.
The Staysure Marbella Legends will also mark a first appearance on the Legends Tour for several players beginning a new chapter in their careers. The season-opening event reflects the varied routes that bring players to the senior game — from Ryder Cup and Major Championship experience to long careers across the European circuits and qualification through Q-School — bringing together familiarity and fresh opportunity as the 2026 Legends Tour season gets underway.
For Søren Hansen, the Legends Tour offers a return to regular competition and the chance to reconnect with players he competed alongside during a long career on the DP World Tour. Hansen represented Europe at the Ryder Cup in 2008, becoming only the second Danish player to feature in the contest, and has remained closely involved in the professional game since stepping away from full-time play. The Dane has become a respected coach, with fellow Ryder Cuppers Nicolai and Rasmus Højgaard among his students.
“I’ve been proud of everything I achieved during my career, and playing in the Ryder Cup is a memory I’ll always value,” said Hansen. “What appeals to me about the Legends Tour is the chance to compete again in a strong environment with players I know well. Marbella is a great place to start, and I’m looking forward to seeing how my game settles into the season.”
Chilean Felipe Aguilar makes his Legends Tour debut having spent much of his career competing at the highest level of the professional game. A multiple winner on the DP World Tour and a former Presidents Cup representative, Aguilar arrives on the senior circuit following appearances in senior Majors and after earning his PGA TOUR Champions card.
“I’ve been fortunate to have a long and consistent career, particularly on the DP World Tour, and I try to draw on that experience when I’m competing,” said Aguilar. “I played my first senior Majors last year, which was an important step, and earning my PGA TOUR Champions card has brought me back into regular competition. This is my first Legends Tour event, and I’m looking forward to playing again with players I competed against during my DP Tour career. The focus remains the same — staying patient, committing to each shot, managing the course and, most of all, enjoying the time and the Tour.”
Scotsman Alastair Forsyth also joins the field as he enters the next phase of a career that has included victories on the European Tour and appearances on golf’s biggest stages. A two-time European Tour winner, Forsyth now turns his attention to the senior game alongside many familiar competitors.
“I’ve been fortunate to experience many different stages of the game, from winning on the European Tour to competing in Majors, and I’m really looking forward to this next chapter,” said Forsyth. “What appeals about the Legends Tour is the chance to keep competing alongside players I’ve known and played against for years.”
Frenchman Anthony Grenier brings extensive Tour experience to the Legends Tour, having competed consistently at professional level throughout his career. After more than a decade on the HotelPlanner [formerly Challenge] Tour, Grenier secured his place through Q-School in January to begin a new stage of his playing career.
“Earning my card through Q-School after a decade of competing on the Challenge Tour was really meaningful,” said Grenier. “What excites me about this next step is the chance to compete in new fields and alongside players I’ve crossed paths with throughout my career.”
Northern Irishman Cameron Clark also earned his Legends Tour card at Q-School, showing composure under pressure after narrowly missing out at the same stage 12 months earlier. A regular competitor on the European circuits, Clark produced a calm finish when it mattered most.
“Qualifying this time around meant a lot, especially after being so close last year,” said Clark. “The Legends Tour offers a great competitive environment and the chance to compete alongside players I’ve known and admired throughout my career.”
Together, Hansen, Aguilar, Forsyth, Grenier and Clark — alongside an elite group of Major champions and Ryder Cup figures — reflect the depth and experience that define the Legends Tour, as the 2026 season begins in Marbella.
