Steven Richardson became a double winner on the DP World Tour just two years after winning the English Amateur Championship.

Richardson’s double winning season earned him a spot on the European Ryder Cup team at Kiawah Island in 1991. Richardson partnered Mark James to two victories against the United States, but narrowly lost in the singles to Corey Pavin.

Richardson finished in 29th place on the European Tour Order of Merit in his rookie season. In 1991 he won the Girona Open and the Portuguese Open and also claimed a top 5 at the USPGA Championship. He ended that season second on the European Tour Order of Merit behind Seve Ballesteros. He picked up his third career victory at the Mercedes German Masters.
