José Manuel Carriles achieved success on the Legends Tour after finishing in third place at the 2013 Qualifying School before going on to win on the over-50s circuit at the 2019 European Tour Destinations Senior Classic at PGA Catalunya Resort, Spain.

Carriles hails from Pedreña in northern Spain, the birthplace of the late, great Seve Ballesteros. Like his fellow Spaniard he learned the rudiments of the game on the beach, where he and some friends shared a half set of clubs. He turned professional in 1983, and gained his card for the European Tour for the first time at the 1991 Qualifying School.

His best finish on the DP World Tour was second in the 1992 German Open, where he was runner-up behind Vijay Singh. Over the next 15 years he divided his time between the European Tour and Challenge Tour, winning twice on the latter – including the 2003 Grand Final.
