Joakim Haeggman became the first Swede to play in the Ryder Cup when he teed it up in the biennial contest at The Belfry in 1993.

He has won three times on the European Tour at the Spanish Open, Scandinavian Masters and the Qatar Masters, victories which were bookended by triumphs on the Challenge Tour.
Haeggman has twice fulfilled the role of Ryder Cup Vice Captain, firstly to Sam Torrance in 2002 before assisting Bernhard Langer two years later.
