Gary Murphy joined the Legends Tour in 2023 and recorded his best result of the season in his opening event – finishing 7th at the Riegler & Partner Legends.

In 2025, Gary Murphy has remained active on the Legends Tour with some strong performances. At the OFX Irish Legends at Mount Juliet, he opened with a 4-under round that included an eagle and several birdies, placing him in a tie for 6th early in the tournament.
He would play in seven events through the course of the season, with his next best finish being 16th place at the Vinpearl DIC Legends Vietnam.
Gary won the 2005 Azores Open and would play on professional tours including the DP World Tour and the Asian Tour for 17 years. He would claim 3rd place at Adare Manor in the 2008 Irish Open for the best Tour finish.
Gary has been working for broadcasters of the DP World Tour as an analyst and is now the Head Golf Professional at the K Club in Straffan, County Kildare.
Grew up in Kilkenny and caddied for his father, Jim -who was a major influence, before taking up the game himself aged 11. Murphy won the 1992 Irish Amateur Closed Championship, three years before turning pro and spending his time playing on the Asian Tour, Challenge Tour and the DP World Tour.
Was a keen soccer player as a youngster growing up in Kilkenny, and had trials for Ireland’s Under 13 and Under 15 teams. Decided to concentrate on golf in 1988, when he was 16 and got down to scratch at 17.
