Charly Bauer discovered golf later in life having worked as a pastry chef on a cruise ship in Thailand, playing golf every now and then. When he returned to Zell am See in 2000 he took golf more seriously and was given a handicap of 12. After his first season he had reduced that handicap to 6 and has gone on to dominate the Austrian senior amateur scene.
In addition to countless championship titles, starting with the Murhof Legends in 2019 was an absolute highlight for the Diamond Country Club player. Bauer caused a sensation and led the field on the first round after 13 holes played.
