The Egyptian posted scores of 67-70-68-68 to finish eight strokes clear of five-time Ryder Cup player Jimmy Adams.

Two years prior, Hassanein claimed victory at the 1949 Italian Open as Aldo Casera, one of the founders of the Professional Golfer’s Association of Italy in 1962, finished in second place at Villa d’Este in Lombardy.

Hassanein has won several Egyptian Opens and played in The Open Championship on four occasions, with his best performance coming in 1953 as he finished in a tie for 17th.

The Egyptian legend was born in Cairo and started out as a caddie, before turning into a professional golfer and playing worldwide.
