Set to take place from June 19-22, 2024, the tournament marks another chapter in the rapid rise of one of the most talked-about venues in Irish golf. Situated just an hour north of Dublin, Seapoint Golf Links first opened in 1995, with a course designed by former Ryder Cup vice-captain Des Smyth and Declan Branigan.

Smyth will again act as official host- supported by former Walker player Roddy Carr – with the tournament again including the Tour’s popular wapp Celebrity Challenge and Legends Experience, where passionate amateurs will get the opportunity to tee it up alongside iconic names from golf, entertainment and the wider sporting world. With bookings to take part in the Legends Experience already available, the once-in-a-lifetime experience promises to be a tough Christmas present to top for any golf lover.

Action gets underway with the Championship pro-am on June 18 and the wapp Celebrity Challenge on June 19, with entry priced at €1,200 (€3,000 per team of three) and €2,500 respectively.

Next, from June 19-21, the Legends Experience will see teams of two professional golfers and one amateur compete over two rounds on Seapoint’s par-72 championship layout, with entry at €8,000 per player.

Finally, the Pro event will come to come to a head on Saturday, June 22, when some of golf’s greatest names take to the course for a final time to determine who will follow in the footsteps of recent Irish Legends champions Baker, Phillip Price and Thomas Bjørn.

Phil Harrison, chief executive of the Legends Tour, said: “This year’s Irish Legends was a tremendous success, so it was an easy decision to ask Seapoint Golf Links to host the event again in 2024 and we are delighted to return.

“The venue is deservedly enjoying a growing reputation and is blessed with a perfect course for major tournaments. We are looking forward to welcoming our legends, celebrities, amateurs and spectators for what promises to be another unmissable Irish Legends.”

In June 2023, Baker cruised to a seven-shot victory over Argentina’s Ricardo González to claim his first win since 2019. The triumph kickstarted Baker’s season, and he would go on to dominate the Order of Merit, recording a further two wins at the JCB Championship and flagship Staysure PGA Seniors Championship.

Baker enjoyed further success in the Alliance team event and the Celebrity team event, where he partnered up with legendary Premier League striker Teddy Sheringham. Meanwhile, there was also a clear winner in the Celebrity Series, where former rugby player Liam Botham – son of cricketer Ian – eased to a six-point Stableford lead.

Seapoint Golf Links joins prestigious courses such as Carnoustie Golf Links and Trump International Golf Links as a confirmed stop on the 2024 Legends Tour, with more news about the schedule, golfers and participating celebrities to follow.

Speaking on behalf of the ownership of Seapoint Golf Links, Marty Carr of Carr Golf, said: “We are delighted Des Smyth and Roddy Carr will again co-host this prestigious event at Seapoint.

“They were thrilled to receive such positive feedback on the course from Tour friends who played this year’s tournament. Seapoint Golf Links deserves its place on the elite Tour circuit and hosting these events is a key pillar in our long-term vision for the club and the team is excited to bring the event back for a second year.

“We are proud of Seapoint’s burgeoning international reputation, almost 30 years after Des Smyth opened the course with a televised match against Paul McGinley.”
