At 14:12 local time, play was suspended for the day following an earlier rain delay that flooded parts of the course. All of the Legends were able to start their first round with the final pairing of Stephen Dodd and Thomas Levet completing just two holes.

Two-time Senior Major Champion Roger Chapman managed eight pars and one eagle in the nine holes played on day one and the Englishman said, “It’s frustrating for everybody because you go out and the rain comes down and the course is unplayable and you come back in and try dry off. Dry all he clubs off and then you go back out and then you come back in [again]. I’ve never seen rain like this on this island for a very very long time.”

Chapman described his moment of the day: “On six, I hit a really good drive down there. The six iron was just left of the green and then I chipped in for three. I was playing well. I was driving the ball well.”

Miguel Angel Martin and Emanuele Canonica both made two birdies each in the early part of their respective rounds to join the Englishman at the top of the leaderboard.

Jeev Milkha Singh started out his debut on the Legends Tour, playing alongside Legends Tour Chairman Ryan Howsam in the Alliance Series, with a level par front nine.

Round one will resume Saturday 2 April at 8:00am local time and you can follow live scoring right here at LegendsTour.com as well as on our social channels.
