The Staysure English Legends will get underway in style on Thursday 27 August, with a special match play contest bringing together Major-winning and Ryder Cup pedigree with two of golf’s most popular personalities at Chart Hills Golf Club.

Former Premier League footballer and TV personality Jimmy Bullard will team up with 2005 U.S. Open Champion Michael Campbell to take on leading golf content creator Peter Finch and former Ryder Cup Captain Paul McGinley.

The fourball will tee off at 8:00 am on Thursday 27 August, ahead of the tournament Pro-Am, with fans invited to attend free of charge and follow the action around Chart Hills.

The contest will offer a unique fusion of elite golfing experience and entertainment. Campbell and McGinley bring decades of experience at the highest level of the game, having competed on some of golf’s biggest stages throughout their careers.

Campbell famously claimed the 2005 U.S. Open at Pinehurst, holding off Tiger Woods to secure his first Major Championship, while McGinley played in three Ryder Cups and holed the winning putt at The Belfry in 2002. He later captained Europe to victory at Gleneagles in 2014.

Bullard and Finch, meanwhile, have built huge audiences through their ability to bring golf to life in an entertaining and accessible way.

Bullard has become one of the most recognisable personalities around the game since retiring from professional football, combining his love of golf with his trademark humour and competitive edge. Finch, meanwhile, is one of the leading names in golf content, taking millions of fans closer to the sport through entertaining challenges, course content and collaborations with some of the game’s biggest names.

Bullard said: “I can’t wait for it. I’ve got Cambo on my team, so surely we’ve got to be favourites! That’s what’s brilliant about the Staysure Legends Tour – you get the chance to be out there with Major champions and Ryder Cup legends and have a bit of fun with it as well.

“Pete and Paul will be tough to beat, but we’ll have a good laugh and once we’re on that first tee, we’ll definitely want to win.”

With Bullard partnering Campbell and Finch joining forces with McGinley, the match play will provide an entertaining curtain-raiser to a packed week of golf at Chart Hills, before the tournament gets underway.

The Staysure English Legends then takes centre stage from Friday 28 August through to Sunday 30 August, with a field featuring Major champions, Ryder Cup stars and proven Staysure Legends Tour winners competing across three days at Chart Hills.

Away from the action on the course, spectators can also visit the Destination Pavilion in the Tournament Village, where they can discover some of the Staysure Legends Tour’s leading golf destinations and enter competitions to win free golf holidays.

Entry to Thursday morning’s match play is completely free, giving fans the chance to walk the fairways and see Bullard, Campbell, Finch and McGinley up close from 8:00 am before the tournament week gets into full swing.
