Former Ryder Cup Captains Thomas Bjørn and Colin Montgomerie will tee it up at the ISPS HANDA Senior Open as the Championship returns to Gleneagles from July 23-26.

Tickets are now on sale to see some of golf’s most storied names play the King’s Course when Europe’s only Senior Major returns to the iconic Scottish venue. Gleneagles will host the ISPS HANDA Senior Open for a second time, having previously held the Championship in 2022, with a 15% discount available on tickets for a limited time only.

The duo, who are both ISPS HANDA Ambassadors, will join a star-studded field this summer, including defending champion Pádraig Harrington, Major winners Stewart Cink, José María Olazábal, Ernie Els and Darren Clarke, former ISPS HANDA Senior Open winner Miguel Angel Jiménez, and 2014 Ryder Cup stars Stephen Gallacher and Jamie Donaldson.

Montgomerie was the dominant force in European golf during the 1990s, winning a record eight DP World Tour Order of Merit titles, seven of which were consecutive from 1993 to 1999. The Scotsman made eight Ryder Cup appearances, with an unbeaten singles record of six wins and two halves, before later going on to captain Team Europe to victory at Celtic Manor in 2010.

With 31 titles to his name, Montgomerie is the most prolific British winner in DP World Tour history; his milestone came in 2007 when he ended a 19-month winless streak with victory in the European Open at The K Club, surpassing Sir Nick Faldo’s record of 30 wins. The 62-year-old carried his form into the over 50s circuit and has since added three Senior Major Championships.

“The King’s Course at Gleneagles is an excellent test of golf and we are all looking forward to returning there later this year,” said Montgomerie. “It’s always a pleasure playing in front of my home fans and I can’t wait to tee it up in Scotland again.

“The ISPS HANDA Senior Open is always one of the highlights of our schedule and getting the opportunity to play in front of Scottish crowds at an iconic venue elevates it even further.”

Bjørn is Denmark’s most successful golfer, winning 15 times on the DP World Tour and captaining Europe to victory at the 2018 Ryder Cup at Le Golf National. He also made three appearances in golf’s greatest team contest, being a member of the winning side on each occasion.

“I’m looking forward to being part of this wonderful Championship at Gleneagles this July,” said Bjørn.

“The standard of golf at The Senior Open is so high and you really have to be on your game to compete at this level. It’s also fantastic to have ISPS HANDA on board as Title Partner.”
